Problems do not define your faith

Following God does not remove hardship from the road, but it does change the way we walk through it.

Devotional

Life with God is not a promise of easy days.

Jesus made that clear in John 16:33 when He said, “In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” He did not hide reality. Those who walk with Christ still face pain, loss, fear, and days when everything feels heavy.

That needs to be clear, because a lot of people assume that if problems show up, then their faith must be weak or God must be far away. But that is not what Scripture teaches. Jesus Himself said that trouble would come.

In Matthew 7:24-25, Jesus talks about the house built on the rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds beat against that house.

The storm still came. The difference was that the house did not fall, because it had a foundation.

That is what life with God is like.

Faith does not remove us from human reality. Faith anchors us in Christ right in the middle of it. The problem is no longer what defines a life. What defines a life is the foundation it is built on.

So hard days are not proof that God has stepped away. Many times, it is right in the middle of those days that we learn to remain in Jesus more deeply and more honestly. We do not always understand what God is doing in the moment, but we still know whom we have believed.

If today is a hard day for you, do not assume your faith is gone just because the battle showed up.

Remain in Christ.

He did not promise a life without trouble.

He promised victory in Him.

Prayer

Lord, strengthen my heart on hard days. When I go through trouble, remind me that my life is built on You. Help me not to lose heart, but to keep trusting in Your presence and in Your Word. Amen.
