Leave Behind What Holds You Back
Following Jesus calls for a real decision, one that reaches what fills the heart and weakens obedience.
Simples Assim, Jesus begins with a calm and grounded presence: the devotional of the day, a public library, and a multilingual experience prepared from the start.

Devotional
After the miraculous catch of fish, Luke sums up Peter’s response and the response of the other disciples with one simple sentence: “And when they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed him.” (Luke 5:11)
That “everything” was not vague for Peter. It had weight. His boat was there. His nets were there. His work, his routine, and the life he knew were all right in front of him. That was the place of his experience, his provision, and his sense of security. Still, when Jesus called him, Peter understood that the word of the Lord had to come first.
Following Jesus does not begin with good intentions alone. It begins when what we carry inside is brought before Him. In Matthew 6:21, Jesus says, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” What we treasure shows what has the center of our life. It reveals what we trust, what gets our attention, and what we are most afraid to release.
Leaving behind what holds us back does not mean neglecting responsibilities or denying our story. It means recognizing when something has taken a place that belongs to God. It may be an old sense of security, a desire that is hard to surrender, a fear that shapes our choices, or an attachment that makes obedience feel heavier than it should.
Peter followed Jesus without knowing the whole road ahead. His step had strength because he knew who was calling him. When Jesus holds the center, life begins to be reordered by trust in Him. The heart learns to release what weighs it down, and obedience becomes more than a desire. It becomes the path we walk.
