Fruit Takes Time, Persevere

Spiritual fruit grows in the heart that remains faithful before God.

Devotional

In Luke 8:15, Jesus speaks about the seed that falls on good ground. He says they are those who, “in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.”

Jesus does not present fruit as something rushed. The seed remains in the ground, and the Word must be kept in the heart. Growth happens as we continue before God, even when we do not yet see everything we hoped for.

There are seasons when spiritual life feels quiet. As we pray and draw near to Scripture, we learn to obey even when the result still seems small. Still, God continues His work. Often, the Lord is forming roots before the fruit becomes visible.

Galatians 6:9 says, “let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” This word calls us to remain. The time of harvest belongs to God, but today’s faithfulness is also part of the fruit He is forming in us.

Jesus also said, “He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit” (John 15:5). Spiritual fruit comes from abiding in Christ. Persevering means staying near Him when the process feels slow.

Every day, we need to ask the Lord for a steady heart. May He help us trust His timing and remain firm while the fruit grows.

Prayer

Lord, help us remain firm in You. Give us patience to trust Your timing and keep Your Word in our hearts. In Jesus’ name, amen.
