A Life Born of God

The life that comes from God reaches the heart in a way no human effort can produce.

Devotional

John speaks about those who receive Christ and believe on His name. In John 1:13, he says they “were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”

This word places us before a deep truth. Life with God begins when He touches the heart. We can change behaviors and choose better paths, but there is an inward change only God can bring.

Jesus spoke about this with Nicodemus. In John 3:3, He said, “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” The new birth is not a surface improvement of life. It is God’s work in a heart that learns to yield to Christ.

This calls us to stop trusting our own strength. Many times, we try to look spiritually well while important places in the heart remain closed to the Lord.

To be born of God is to receive a life we cannot create by ourselves. It is allowing Him to deal with what is hidden, form true faith in us, and teach us to live as children before Him.

Prayer

Father, I need the life that comes from You. Touch my heart and bring true faith to life within me. Teach me to live before You as a beloved child. In Jesus’ name, amen.
