By Grace Are We Saved

Salvation comes from God’s grace in Christ, and this truth lifts from the heart the burden of trying to earn the Father’s love.

Devotional

In Ephesians 2:8-10, Scripture says, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

This truth brings the heart before God with humility. Salvation does not come from our ability to get everything right. It comes from the grace God has given us in Christ.

Many times, we try to prove our worth before God. We carry guilt, fear, and the feeling that we must reach a certain spiritual level before being received by Him. But Paul reminds us that salvation is the gift of God.

This does not make life with God careless. In the same passage, Scripture says that we were created in Christ Jesus unto good works. They do not purchase God’s love. They come from a life that has been reached by Him.

Grace teaches us to depend on Christ. It also calls us to live with gratitude, without pride and without pretending.

Every day, we need to remember that Jesus did for us what we could never do on our own. This truth brings rest to the heart and draws us near to the Father.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for Your grace in Christ. Free us from pride and guilt that keep us away from You. Teach us to live with gratitude before the Father. In Jesus’ name, amen.
