Grace Comes from God

Salvation is born from God’s grace and reaches the heart through faith in Christ. This truth frees us from the pride of trying to earn the Father’s love and from the fear that we have failed too much to be received by Him.

Devotional

In Ephesians 2:8-9, Scripture says, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

This truth brings us before God with humility. Salvation does not come from our ability to get everything right. It comes from the grace the Father has given us in Christ.

Many times, we try to come near to God while carrying some kind of negotiation within us. We think about the good things we have done, how hard we have tried, or how much we have attempted to improve. At other times, we look at our failures and believe we have gone too far to be reached.

Grace deals with these wounds of the heart. It confronts the pride of those who think they can save themselves. It also reaches those who live trapped in guilt and fear that God will not receive them.

Good works matter before the Lord, but they do not purchase the Father’s love. They come from a life that has been touched by Him. God reaches us first. Then we learn to live in a way that agrees with His grace.

Every day, we need to return to this truth. Christ did for us what we could never do on our own. Resting in this does not make us careless. It makes the heart more grateful, more humble, and more dependent on God.

Prayer

Father, thank You for Your grace in Christ. Free us from pride, guilt, and fear that keep us away from You. Teach us to rest in what Jesus has done for us and to live with gratitude before Your love. In Jesus’ name, amen.
