Renew Your Mind, Do Not Give In to the World

The mind does not remain neutral. What holds our attention begins to shape desires and decisions. God’s Word renews our understanding and helps us recognize what has been directing our lives.

Devotional

Romans 12:1-2 calls us to offer our lives to God and refuse the pattern of this world. Transformation begins as our thinking is renewed, helping us recognize the will of God in ordinary life.

The world often reaches us through things that seem normal. The need for approval can shape our decisions, and comparison can make what God has already placed in our hands feel insufficient. When these voices remain unexamined, we begin choosing from impulse and treating anxiety as responsibility.

Renewing the mind requires us to notice what we allow to enter and remain. Colossians 3:1-2 directs our thoughts toward things above. This helps us view reality through Christ and respond without being ruled by the pressure of the moment.

Scripture confronts repeated thoughts we have accepted as truth and exposes desires hidden behind our explanations. This process can be uncomfortable because God touches areas we would rather protect.

Consider what has been feeding your mind in recent days and bring it before the Lord. As you return carefully to the gospel, ask Christ to correct your thinking before it continues to direct your choices.

Prayer

Lord, show me what has occupied my mind and directed my choices. Use Your Word to renew my understanding so that I may live according to Your will. In Jesus’ name, amen.
