The Good Work Continues

Philippians 1:6 says that God will complete the good work He began in us. This promise speaks to anyone who looks inward and feels discouraged by old habits or reactions that seem slow to change.

Spiritual growth often happens at a different pace than we expect. We want quick progress and become frustrated when the same weakness appears again. That concern may come from a sincere desire to please God, yet it can also turn into guilt and make us wonder whether He has stepped away.

Paul directs our attention to the Lord’s faithfulness. The work began by His initiative and remains under His care. Because of this, we stay attentive to what still needs correction. Grace helps us admit where we were wrong and receive direction without hiding what remains immature.

In 2 Corinthians 3:18, we see that we are being changed as we behold the Lord. His Word reveals what needs attention and teaches us to respond differently. Much of this change becomes visible in ordinary moments, when we obey while knowing the process is still underway.

You may be tired of facing the same struggle. Bring that discouragement to God. Remain open to what He is doing and keep taking honest steps of obedience.

6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform [it] until the day of Jesus Christ:

18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, [even] as by the Spirit of the Lord.
