Receiving Jesus means opening your life to His presence and allowing Him to reach what you still protect. This surrender changes your direction because Christ begins to guide your thoughts and choices through His Word.
Devotional
Revelation 3:20 presents Christ at the door, calling and waiting to be received. The image speaks of nearness and requires a response. We can know stories about Jesus for years while keeping parts of our lives closed to Him.
Opening the door requires trust. This happens when we bring Christ the guilt we hide and the fear we avoid admitting. We also surrender desires we keep trying to control on our own. His presence reaches who we truly are. Religious appearance can no longer conceal the heart before Him.
John 1:12 shows that receiving Christ includes believing on His name. That faith begins to shape the way we think and decide. Scripture corrects values that once seemed normal and reveals paths we need to leave behind.
You may want to draw near to Jesus while feeling afraid of what He will touch in your life. Christ already knows your whole story. You can bring Him your doubts and wounds without preparing a better version of yourself.
Receiving Him with all your heart means allowing His truth to have authority over your life. Open before Him the area you are still trying to protect.

Lord Jesus, I open my life to You. Reach what I still try to hide and teach me to trust Your Word. Guide my choices. In Jesus’ name, amen.
