In Colossians 1:9-10, Paul prays that believers will be filled with the knowledge of God’s will so they can walk worthy of the Lord and bear fruit. Knowledge is connected to the way we live because received truth must reach real decisions.
We may know many verses and still respond impatiently at home. We can speak confidently about faith while avoiding an apology. When this happens, knowledge remains in the mind and does not reach the areas where Christ intends to shape us.
God’s will confronts us by revealing the pride hidden within an opinion or the desire to be recognized. It also teaches us to notice the needs of someone nearby. Spiritual wisdom matures as we allow Scripture to change our response in ordinary situations.
Paul connects understanding with a life that pleases the Lord. This requires humility to obey what we already understand, even when obedience costs comfort or recognition.
You may be seeking an answer from God while ignoring guidance you already know. Ask the Lord to join understanding with practice in your heart. Consider where truth needs to move beyond what you know and begin to appear in the way you treat people.
Prayer
Lord, give me understanding to know Your will and humility to obey. Let Your Word reach my actions and teach me to serve with love. In Jesus’ name, amen.
