Seek First What Is Eternal
Anxiety narrows our view and makes an urgent need seem larger than everything else. Jesus calls us to place God’s Kingdom at the center, where the heart finds direction for today without losing sight of what lasts.
Devotional
In Matthew 6:31-33, Jesus speaks to people worried about their needs and shows that God knows what they require. Concern about tomorrow can take up so much room that we stop noticing His presence in the day before us.
Seeking God’s Kingdom first reaches the inner order of our lives. When fear directs our thoughts, every decision begins to feel dependent on control. The heart tries to secure what it cannot predict, and weariness grows.
Jesus calls us to place God’s will above that urgency. This includes working responsibly and caring for what is in front of us while trusting that our security rests in the Lord’s care.
The Kingdom takes the center when Scripture guides a difficult decision and when we turn away from something that conflicts with God’s righteousness. It also becomes visible when anxiety is brought to the Lord before it governs our response.
A real need may be pressing on you today. Bring it honestly to God. Ask Him to show you where fear has taken control and to guide your heart back to what has eternal value.
Prayer
Lord, place Your Kingdom at the center of my life. Teach me to face my needs without being ruled by anxiety and to trust Your care. In Jesus’ name, amen.
