Do Good with All Your Heart
Good works grow from the grace we have received in Christ. When we stop trying to earn God’s love, we find freedom to serve sincerely, even when no one notices or acknowledges what we do.
Devotional
Ephesians 2:8-10 shows that we are saved by grace through faith. Paul calls this salvation the gift of God and then says that we were created in Christ Jesus for good works.
This order protects our hearts. The good we do does not purchase the Lord’s favor. It grows from a life that has already been reached by grace.
Still, service can become a silent demand. We may help someone while expecting recognition, give our time while waiting for gratitude, or obey while assuming that God owes us an answer. When this happens, even a right action can carry pride and frustration.
Grace brings freedom back into our service. We can do good because we belong to Christ, even when no one notices, thanks us, or gives anything in return. Generosity stops being an attempt to establish our personal worth and begins to express what God is forming within us.
This reaches the simple choices of everyday life. The way we treat someone who is tired, fulfill a responsibility, or respond to an opportunity reveals the place grace has in our hearts.
Examine your motives before God. Are you serving out of love, or trying to prove that you deserve to be accepted? Christ is enough for you to do good with a free heart.
Prayer
Lord, let Your grace produce an obedient life in me. Teach me to do good sincerely, without seeking a reward, and to serve with love even when no one notices. In Jesus’ name, amen.
