God’s Work Begins with Faith in Jesus
Faith in Jesus reorders our hearts before God. It frees us from the anxiety of proving our worth and teaches us to receive Christ with trust, allowing our service to grow from a genuine relationship with Him.
Devotional
John 6:28-29 shows people asking Jesus what they should do to perform the works of God. They were thinking about actions that could prove their commitment. Jesus directed the conversation toward faith in the One God had sent.
His answer reaches a restlessness that can live in us as well. We may fill our schedules with religious activity, help many people, and still feel that we are never doing enough. A tired heart searches for some measure that will make it feel accepted.
Jesus brings us back to the center. To believe in Him means trusting who He is and receiving what He has done for us. Faith reaches everyday life. It touches our decisions, reshapes our desires, and begins to form sincere obedience.
Service finds its proper place when it grows from that trust. We serve because we belong to Christ, not to establish our position before God. This truth also gives us room to recognize our limitations without abandoning faithfulness.
Perhaps you are trying to compensate for guilt through effort, or seeking in your performance the security only Jesus can give. Stop before this word. Consider whether your works are flowing from faith or trying to take its place.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, I place my trust in You. Free me from the need to prove my worth through effort, and teach me to serve with sincere faith while resting in Your grace. In Jesus’ name, amen.
