The reactions we feed reveal what is gaining room within us. Scripture helps us notice signs of pride, anger, envy, and other desires before they begin directing our choices and relationships.
Devotional
Galatians 5:19-21 presents the works of the flesh and shows how they become visible in the way we live. Paul names behaviors that reveal desires moving away from God’s will.
This passage calls us to examine ourselves honestly. The problem often appears before other people can see it. Anger may begin with an offense we replay in our minds. Envy may arise when another person’s blessing starts to trouble us. Pride may hide in the need to win every conversation.
These inward movements deserve attention. When we feed them, they begin to influence our words, decisions, and relationships. A reaction that seemed isolated may reveal something growing within the heart.
Paul writes with seriousness because he wants the church to recognize this path while it can still be interrupted. God’s grace allows us to bring into the light what we would rather conceal. The Holy Spirit confronts us with truth and leads us toward repentance.
Look closely at your recent reactions. What has stirred irritation, comparison, or the desire to hurt someone? Bring it before the Lord honestly. Christ receives those who recognize their need and teaches them a new way to respond.
Prayer
Lord, give me courage to recognize what needs to be addressed in me. Show me the source of my reactions and help me surrender the desires that draw me away from Your will. In Jesus’ name, amen.
