God Has Put His Spirit in You

In Ezekiel 36:26-27, God promises to give His people a new heart and put His Spirit within them. The promise points to a transformation that reaches the deepest part of a person.

This work is fulfilled in Christ. In Romans 8:11, Paul says that the Spirit of the One who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in those who belong to God.

This changes how we understand the Christian life. God is not only directing our outward behavior. He is also working within us, reaching desires that once seemed untouchable and thoughts that used to control our decisions.

Weaknesses still remain. Some reactions reveal that we need to grow. We may continue struggling with fear, irritation, pride, or the need to control everything. Those struggles can be brought before God. The Holy Spirit is present in that process of transformation.

His presence does not make obedience automatic. He leads us to hear the Word and respond with willingness. The Lord is shaping a life in us that agrees with Christ.

Remember today that you do not face this change alone. Place before the Lord the area where your heart is still resisting Him.

26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do [them].

11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
