Always Return to the Cross. Remember What Jesus Did
The Lord’s Supper calls us back to the center of faith: Jesus gave His life to establish a new covenant and reconcile sinners to God. This remembrance steadies our hope when the journey becomes confusing or wearying.
Devotional
In Luke 22:19-20, Jesus took the bread and the cup and asked His disciples to repeat that moment in remembrance of Him. The bread pointed to His body given for them. The cup announced the new covenant established in His blood.
Jesus knew the cross was near. Even then, He prepared His disciples to remember what would happen when fear, guilt, and confusion tried to take over their hearts.
The Lord’s Supper brings us back to Christ. It reminds us that our reconciliation with God did not come from a perfect life or from efforts strong enough to erase sin. It came through Jesus giving Himself for us.
This remembrance confronts our tendency to turn faith into appearance, routine, or religious arguments. It also places us before the grace that gathers different people at the same table. We all come dependent on what Christ has done.
Perhaps your walk with God has become heavy or distracted. Return to the cross. There you find the foundation of hope and remember that new life began with the love of Jesus.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, keep the memory of Your cross alive in my heart. When guilt or distraction pulls me away, lead me back to Your love and the grace we receive in You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake [it], and gave unto them, saying, ‹This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.›
20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, ‹This cup› [is] ‹the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.›
