Jesus Restores What Seemed Lost

Jesus does not turn away from those who have fallen, failed, or drifted inside. He comes near, restores with love, and gives new purpose to the wounded heart.

Devotional

In John 21:15-17, Jesus speaks with Peter after the resurrection. Peter had failed. He had denied the Lord. He carried the weight of shame, weakness, and grief inside him. And still, Jesus did not push him away. Jesus drew him near.

This part of Scripture is precious because it shows us how the Lord deals with a wounded heart. He does not shame Peter. He does not throw his failure back in his face. Jesus goes straight to the heart of it: “Do you love Me?” That is where restoration begins, in the place of love.

We are like that many times. On the outside, life keeps moving. Inside, we carry guilt, regret, disappointment, and the feeling that we have ruined everything. Sometimes we even stay around religious things, yet lose our peace, our joy, and the courage to look at Jesus honestly.

But Jesus still restores. He knows the fall. He knows the weakness. He knows the truth no one else sees. And still, He keeps calling. He keeps bringing people back. He keeps healing what seemed too broken.

In Psalm 51:17, Scripture says that God does not despise a broken and contrite heart. That gives hope. The Lord does not turn away from those who come to Him in truth. He is not impressed by religious appearance. He receives the one who comes with a surrendered heart.

Maybe that is where you are today: tired of yourself, disappointed with your own story, unsure how to begin again. Then do what Peter did: stay before Jesus. He knows how to deal with what still hurts inside us. And from His hands still come forgiveness, healing, and a new beginning.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, You know my failures, my wounds, and everything that weighs on me inside. Do not let me run from You. Restore my heart, heal my wounds, and teach me to live again under Your grace. In Jesus’ name, amen.
