Stay Rooted in Christ

Colossians 2:6-7 calls us to continue walking in Christ, rooted in Him and established in the faith. The picture of a root points to a life that grows deeper before its progress becomes visible.

We can know Scripture and still discover parts of our hearts ruled by anxiety or the need for approval. Those places show how much we still need the truth of Christ to reach beliefs we have carried for a long time.

Growing roots requires staying with Him. Scripture begins to correct what we have learned to believe about God, ourselves, and life. Over time, we become more aware of when fear is shaping our decisions and learn to respond from what Jesus has taught us.

Much of this growth happens where other people cannot see it. There are seasons when change feels slow and weaknesses appear that we thought we had already overcome. Remaining in Christ through those moments is part of becoming mature.

Paul also connects a rooted life with gratitude. As we recognize the grace we have received, we begin to see our story with a greater awareness of God’s presence.

There may be an area of your life where the roots are still shallow. Bring it honestly to Jesus and allow His Word to reach that place.

6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, [so] walk ye in him:

7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
