Stay Rooted in Christ

In John 15:4-5, Jesus tells us to abide in Him as a branch remains connected to the vine. The image shows something essential: our spiritual life depends on an ongoing connection with Christ.

We may know Scripture, remember meaningful experiences, and continue religious habits. Even then, the heart can begin to dry out when we stop seeking Jesus in the present. Over time, faith can become mostly a memory while weariness takes more space within us.

Abiding in Christ requires real nearness. His Word corrects thoughts that have drifted from the truth. In prayer, we bring Him what has become heavy inside us. As we obey what we already understand, that fellowship begins to shape everyday life.

Fruit does not need to come from the pressure to appear spiritual. Galatians 5:22-23 shows that it comes from the work of the Spirit. Love and self-control begin to grow as we remain connected to Christ.

You may be trying to produce on your own what can only come from fellowship with Him. Return honestly to Jesus. Stay close to Him today and allow His life to reach what has grown weary within you.

4 ‹Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.›

5 ‹I am the vine, ye› [are] ‹the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.›

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
