See Your Life Through Christ

In Ephesians 2:1-6, Paul reminds us that without Christ, we were trapped in a life shaped by disordered desires and the patterns of this world. Then he shows what God did because of His mercy: He gave us life together with Christ and made us sit with Him in heavenly places.

This truth reaches the way we interpret our own story.

We may look at the past through guilt, the present through fear, and the future through uncertainty. Circumstances can become the measure of everything. Paul reminds us that our lives have received a new reference point in Christ.

This does not remove our responsibilities or the pain we face. We still work, make decisions, and deal with situations that require wisdom. The difference appears in the place from which we view it all.

Those who belong to Christ do not have to let a loss, a failure, or a difficult season define their identity. Their lives are grounded in a work God has already accomplished.

Perhaps today you are seeing your story only through what went wrong. Bring that perspective before the Lord. Let the truth of your life in Christ shape the way you understand the present.

1 ¶ And you [hath he quickened], who were dead in trespasses and sins;

2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

4 ¶ But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

6 And hath raised [us] up together, and made [us] sit together in heavenly [places] in Christ Jesus:
