Learn to Live by Faith in the Son of God

Galatians 2:20 presents a truth that reaches the center of Christian identity: Paul began to live by faith in the Son of God, who loved him and gave Himself for him.

Paul remained the same person, with responsibilities, limitations, and struggles. What changed was the center of his life. Christ began to guide the way he understood his identity, his choices, and his future.

This faith enters very practical situations. When fear appears, we remember that our lives belong to the Lord. When a desire begins to take up too much space, we ask whether it agrees with what Christ is forming in us. When we face a difficult decision, we seek His will before following impulse alone.

Living by faith means bringing Christ into ordinary life. Our work, relationships, use of money, and responses to frustration are brought before Him and examined in His presence.

Paul is not describing a life sustained by religious effort. He is describing a life reached by the love of Jesus. Obedience grows from remembering this: Christ loved me and gave Himself for me.

Perhaps you are trying to direct everything on your own today. Return your trust to Christ and allow Him to take His place at the center again.

20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
